Octagon Claude Plugin ​

The Octagon Claude Plugin is the fastest way to use Octagon inside Claude. It combines a hosted connector, packaged research workflows, and routing logic that helps Claude choose the right Octagon capability.

Where the MCP Server exposes raw Octagon tools, the Claude Plugin adds a better user experience inside Claude:

  • connector-first authentication
  • guided setup, reconnect, and health checks

Why use the Claude Plugin ​

Use the plugin when you want Claude to feel operational, not just connected.

  • Better workflow quality: common analyst tasks are already packaged
  • Cleaner troubleshooting: setup and reconnect stay inside the plugin
  • More reliable routing: Claude is guided toward the right Octagon path

Installation in Claude ​

Install the plugin from Claude’s plugin UI, not from a separate MCP setup screen.

In Claude, open the Customize tab from the Code or Co-work surface, then:

  1. Go to Personal plugins
  2. Click +
  3. Choose Create plugin
  4. Select Add marketplace
  5. Paste the repository URL: https://github.com/OctagonAI/octagon-claude-plugin
  6. Add the marketplace, then install Octagon

Installing the plugin is only the first step. To fully enable Octagon inside Claude, you must also install and authenticate the connector:

  1. Open Plugins -> Octagon -> Connectors
  2. Click Install connector for Octagon AI
  3. Click Connect
  4. Complete the authentication flow

Once that is done, Octagon is ready inside Claude and you can start asking research questions immediately.

What makes it different ​

The plugin is built around four layers:

1. Hosted connector ​

The default path is connector-first, not API-key-first.

  2. Opening Plugins -> Octagon -> Connectors
  3. Connecting or reconnecting Octagon AI
  4. Verifying the tool surface
  5. Starting a research workflow

2. Setup and status workflows ​

The plugin includes explicit workflows for:

  • first-time connection
  • reconnect after expired auth
  • status checks
  • smoke tests for auth, entitlement, input, and service issues

3. Domain skills ​

Once connected, the plugin supports workflows such as:

  • Market intelligence: public-company analysis, analyst estimates, quote and performance checks
  • SEC workflows: 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy, risk-factor, and segment analysis
  • Earnings workflows: call analysis, guidance review, Q&A analysis, capital allocation, competitive review
  • Prediction markets: Kalshi and prediction-market research, historical market-state review

4. Routing intelligence ​

A specialist agent routes the user toward:

  • setup or reconnect when the connector is unhealthy
  • a narrow domain skill when the request is specific
  • direct Octagon tool usage when a shipped skill is not the best fit

Troubleshooting ​

If Octagon is not working inside Claude, troubleshoot the plugin first, not a separate MCP setup.

  • Open Plugins -> Octagon -> Connectors
  • If the connector is missing, click Install connector for Octagon AI
  • If it is installed but disconnected, click Connect or reconnect through the auth flow
  • Keep troubleshooting scoped to the plugin-managed Octagon connector

When the connector is healthy, the primary tool surface includes:

  • octagon-agent
  • octagon-deep-research-agent
  • octagon-prediction-markets-agent
  • prediction_markets_history
